  I'm a tile guy's worst nightmare -- detail oriented AND budget sensitive. But having lived through the consequences of three different "budget" tile guys in the past, I finally came to terms with "you get what you paid for". Mark wasn't the cheapest, nor the most expensive bid, but he did an excellent job for the money. Mark redid our enormous leaking custom shower in slate and glass tile. What I like about Mark: - Very careful to understand needs, design, materials - Excellent workmanship, no cut corners, using highest quality thinsets, waterproofing, etc. -- the unsexy stuff that matters - Great communicator, making it very clear what I would get, what tradeoffs were for different options, etc. - He showed up when he said he would and remained focused on this job throughout (I can't stress how important that is in a contractor) - He worked efficiently but didn't rush (i.e. didn't sacrifice quality) even though it was a fixed price bid (for the most part) - He rolled with the punches as the job grew to include carpentry (repair of rotted wood to the exterior) and plumbing. All around a good guy, too.
